I don’t think any wedding photographer who first starts out expects, or is even aware of, the personal connection you end up building and feeling with not only the wedding couple – but also family and friends by the end of the long wedding day. I guess it makes sense since you’re together all day, cracking jokes, sharing stories about how everyone met, and of course bearing witness to two people becoming one. It also doesn’t hurt, that as the photographer, you pretty much have an all-access backstage pass to every event of the day. So in turn, you end up being privy to some very serene and intimate moments shared by the bride & groom on such a significant day in their life.
I lead with all of that because man… by the end of my almost week-long trip with Giselle & Carlos, I really did build relationships with family and friends and got incredible insight into their amazing inner circle and support system. Speaking on the wedding day itself, it definitely helped a ton that I was already familiar with everyone but it was more important that THEY were familiar with me. The typical camera-shyness by the bridal party was pretty non existent which resulted in many more candid and authentic moments being captured – score.
Definitely have to give a big shout out to Cynthia and the amazing team at the Ocean Coral & Turquesa as well as high fives to Gabe and the rest of the MJS Media videography team. Last but not least, definitely have to give a big thank you to Gee & Carlos for having me out – I hope 2015 is going great for you guys so far.
Enjoy!
